▸ Nanofluidic Functional Devices with Glass Nanochannel Fabrication Technology

Abstract
❝ Recently, Microfluidics has been further downscaling to Nanofluidics. Nanofluidic technology is leading to the creation of innovative devices. For engineering innovative devices, basic technologies and basic science are necessary. However, there are not still enough experimental tools for the nanofluidic experiments. In this seminar, developments of nanochannel fabrication, measurement tools for properties of liquids confined in a nanochannel, and novel functional devices will be talked. Briefly, how to fabricate glass nanofluidic device will be introduced. In addition, anomalous liquid properties in nanospaces which were found by “streaming current” measurements will be introduced. Based on the unique characteristics in nanochannels, development of novel separation device and enzyme reactor will be introduced. Finally, through these topics, I’d like to talk about what is study and how to study sprinkled with my experiences; engineering study is necessary for fundamental scientific study, and also, fundamental scientific study is necessary for engineering study, each other.

Short Bio
❝ Kyojiro Morikawa received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Tokyo in 2013. He worked in the University of Tokyo as a Research Fellow, a Project Assistant Professor, an Assistant Professor, and a Project Lecturer until 2021. His research interests are microfluidics and nanofluidics, especially nanochannel fabrication, liquid chemistry in nano-confined spaces, device engineering using nanochannels. (for more information, please see: CV. )
