11320E500100 Seminar

TOPIC
▸ From Clinical Needs to Research and Development: The Innovation Path of POCT

❝ Medical technology continues to shape modern healthcare, enhancing diagnostic efficiency and improving patient outcomes. As a physician, my interest in research stemmed from daily clinical encounters where timely and accurate diagnosis is often crucial yet challenging. Many diagnostic processes remain time-consuming, prompting the need for more efficient solutions. Point-of-care testing (POCT) represents a step forward in addressing such challenges, bridging the gap between laboratory diagnostics and real-time clinical decision-making.
❝ Clinical needs often guide research directions, leading to innovations that align with practical medical applications. For example, early identification of severe infections, such as sepsis or community-acquired pneumonia, can significantly impact patient management. Our exploration of paper-based biomarker tests and optical readers for cytokine detection reflects an effort to refine diagnostic tools for more timely and informed decision-making.
❝ The development of medical technology is inherently interdisciplinary, requiring close collaboration between clinicians, engineers, and researchers. By combining expertise from different fields, it becomes possible to translate clinical observations into tangible innovations. The integration of machine learning, wearable technology, and multiplex biomarker detection offers further opportunities to enhance diagnostic precision and broaden the accessibility of healthcare solutions.
