[COE Seminar] 2025/02/25: "Microfluidic Advanced Process for Chemical and Biological Applications" - Prof. Jen-Huang HUANG, Department of Chemical Engineering, NTHU

11320E500100 Seminar

TOPIC
▸ Microfluidic Advanced Process for Chemical and Biological Applications

❝ Microfluidic technology has revolutionized traditional approaches in chemistry and biology, offering precise control over microscale processes and enabling innovations in various fields. This seminar will explore the advantages of microfluidics, including enhanced reaction efficiency, reduced reagent consumption, and the ability to perform high-throughput experiments. In the field of chemistry, we have explored the use of droplet-based microfluidic systems for the continuous synthesis of Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs). This advanced process incorporates an innovative peristaltic pump for uninterrupted operation and features a sustainable design that enables the recovery and reuse of the oil phase. These improvements highlight the potential of microfluidics for scalable and environmentally friendly chemical manufacturing. On the biological side, we demonstrated how microfluidic platforms can simulate complex tumor microenvironments for drug testing. By replicating the interactions between cancer cells and their surroundings, these systems provide a dynamic and physiologically relevant platform for evaluating the efficacy of anticancer therapies. This seminar aims to demonstrate the transformative potential of microfluidic technology in both chemical and biological applications, showcasing its ability to address critical challenges and drive innovation in these fields. ❞
